However, the Scientific Advisory Board of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) arrived at a different conclusion.
After examining evidence from studies, the EPA announced that PFOA can’t officially be classified as a carcinogen in humans.
Other studies have found that it stays in the environment and the human body for a long time. But, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration confirms there is no significant health risk in using non-stick cookware made with PFOA (4).
Even though it is considered safe by the FDA, PFOA is no longer manufactured by US companies. In cooperations with the EPA, US manufacturers worked from 2006 to 2015 to eliminate PFOA in emissions and in products.
However, be aware that PFAO is still manufactured in other countries.
